Vegas Pay Now or Later?

Pay later.

Why ? First, because this is the rule rather than the exception.

White's forward position will improve slightly (he could make the 6pt : very good for him but unlikely, or bury his outfield blots : small improvement, they are vulnerable to fly shots and don't control anything).

The score helps White quite a lot if the situation becomes gammonish, but that happens only if we roll 5-1, 4-2 or 4-1. In the other cases it helps him slightly, with his take point only a little lower than ours.

All in all, the case for waiting is less strong than usual, but I see no convincing reason to pay now.
