fast play experiment

This isn't surprising. Another experiment without the clock you could perform is to simply note your gut reaction play and then look at the problem and see how often you actually change your play from your reflex play.
You either know it or you don't. A lot of the problems you're presented with over the board are whether you're familiar with the type of position and what your main priority is. You don't often need time to make chess like considerations. The more you know in this game the faster you can play and not fear destroying your ER.
I've offered the bet before that I could play on the delay, no reserve time, and play under an X error rate. Nobody has yet taken me up on the offer. (with the stipulation of course they can't play trash backgammon just to screw my ER)
