Perhaps it isn't. GNU 2-ply evaluation doesn't cube here, even though a 2-ply/2-ply rollout says it should. Similarly, if we trade a couple of average rolls, GNU 2-ply evaluation still won't cube. I am guessing that XG is behaving similarly.

Let's assume that cubing is correct, but let's remain agnostic for a moment about how big the equity difference is. It follows that when you roll out the current position, the bot will not be milking enough equity out of the "no double" half of the rollout, because it won't be cubing next roll when it should be. Thus the bot is underestimating the "no double" equity, and this creates the illusion that not cubing is a blunder when it might actually be a fairly small error.

By the way, is this also D/T for money?
