I can't speak to the PJT case because I don't know anything about it. But the general principle you're applying here is flawed. I can think of plenty of scenarios in which I might be accused of something, and the only way I could adequately defend myself would be to disclose information that I have agreed to keep confidential, or whose disclosure might have, as an indirect consequence, negative repercussions on innocent people. In such cases I would choose to remain silent unless forced to respond, preferring to look guilty than to compromise my own principles.

Knowing that such scenarios exist, I am therefore reluctant to assume that just because someone refuses to respond to allegations, they must be guilty.
