Plays like 6/2 or 13/10 3/2(!) are worth considering, because backgammon losses don't count. If Brunette escapes, you'd like to have a checker hit, in order to have some chance of not crushing your board. I'll go with the more conventional 13/10 8/7, though. If you make the bar point you won't hold it long, but it might just do you some good.
