I'm generally in favor of spinning the cube at -6-5 in volatile positions like this. The real problem, in my view, is Brown's 2pt spare. Its placement there has two major drawbacks:
1) It cannot be used to make the bar point. Hitting and subsequently making the six-prime, and milking from there, is a huge part of Brown's equity.
2) Brown is short on time when he doesn't escape. He cracks immediately on 44 33 and on a bunch of two-roll combinations.
If you back up Brown's 2pt spare and put it in the outfield (maybe anywhere in the outfield), I suspect Brown should rewhip at this score (easy take, of course).
So, even though I'm pretty sure its an enormous error to redouble in the actual position, I'm equally sure that its not a bad redouble conceptually, on some sort of general principle. IMO, Brown just needs better timing.
