The given position is up 23 pips which I think is slightly good for cuber and race is also longer which is also good giving more time to clear the midpoint and or make the 5 point.

I think you're pulling the strings at both ends for the person cubing. Yes, he has a bigger racing lead pips-wise which is better but the race is also longer allowing his opponent more time to catch up in the race. You're the math guy but it seems to me it's a question of the ideal percentage to be up in the race compared to the length of the race.
