In effect, the loser DID help pay for the recording...he simply bet his half of the cost on the match and won the bet (by losing the match). He should clearly be entitled, and if he can't get it from the web site, the winner should be able to get it for him and give it to him.

If neither the winner or the web site are willing, I would nicely tell the web site that I felt they were being very unkind and unreasonable, and ask them to reconsider, and if they decide not to, I would tell them that I will report what happened to everyone I know in the backgammon community, including the people on this forum, and encourage people not to subscribe, write for, or promote their site.

Unless they're really stupid, I would think they would give you the information.
