Didya ever hear a woman, or a house, get described as having good bones? I thought Stick was saying that games where you make 8-6-5-4 in the middle period are games that mature and stay useful, especially when you have no more idle checkers on those points. Additionally, blocking 6s when you are way ahead is often a self-sabotage.

Heuristics? I think that concept applies to such positions.
