Question about tournament rules

Our goal is 60 days, or April 15th, to complete our first draft in detail. We not only intend to share everything with the rest of the world, we intend to get input from the rest of the world first, so that what we produce is more likely to be universally accepted.

Of course, as you may know, the 7 members of our committee disagree strongly about certain rules, so there is NO WAY to make everyone happy. My personal goal is NOT to end up with a set of rules that I like....I know there are many things I would like to see in and out of the rules that the majority of players would reject...my goal is to end up with a set of rules that is clear, concise, and everyone can understand and reasonably abide by.

I believe the Guide to the rules that we will be presenting will accomplish this even better than the actual rule book.

And we have another goal as well. We have combined "ethics" with the rules committee, so the guide will also attempt to incorporate a higher level of good sportsmanship and fair play, and help the players understand better what is appropriate in terms of requiring your opponent to adhere to specific rules, and where it is appropriate to apply fair play and friendly competition in conjunction with the application of the rules.

Again, we will share everything we do with the rest of the world, and some day, I hope to see an international rules committee that carries this work forward.
