Saturday morning speech in Pittsburgh

Stick said,"I don't know that any good can come from rehashing this speech but I'm always one for open discussion rather than sweeping it under the carpet."
Neil notes that he was one of those who stated "that this was one of the worst things for backgammon they'd ever seen". I will also note that I have heard both sides of the story from both players and think that there's quite a decent chance that the wrong ruling was made.
I will not discuss the ruling anymore, but will state that I very strongly feel that all tourneys should have a tournament committee for appeals. In this incident and with it being midnight, it is likely that had there been a tourney committee, some of the three might have allready been in bed, but still there were enough experienced players in the room, who could be impartial and make up a committee of three.
Anyhow, I do think that Ray knows that there's a time a place for everything, and carrying on and on about this issue during his acceptance speech for the ABT Championship is neither the time nor the place. I know Ray feels that this was a blantant attempt to cheat him and that it could have cost him the ABT, but I also hope Ray knows that he could have just mentioned it and moved on. of course I also know that the other side of the argument feels that Ray did roll twice, I guess thinking that he inadvertantly picked up the dice during some commotion resetting the clock.
I do hope that whom ever wins the 2010 ABT will give a speech that actually might do BG some good.
