I can say with certainty that attendance over the past 10 years is way down relative to the average attendance during the 70s. Clocks were not in use during that period of decline. Therefore the clear loss in attendance that we can be sure of must be due to lack of clock usage.

Obviously no more valid logic here than in the original post.

What I am sure of is that after three ABT events this year, only one of them has had complaints about large delays due to slow play. That was the NM event where the organizers preferred traditional non-clocked play. Funny how those same organizers have quickly decided that it is for the good of the event to use clocks next year. No doubt their goal is to drive people away because people will no longer have a chance to play matches at 2AM.
