Or about 15 other, uh, anomalies described here that were worth mentioning only because of clocks.

As Phil mentions one might think this speaks more to the players involved rather than whether or not they were using clocks or what color the dice cups were. I have played too many clocked matches to count and never have run into one of these "anomalies".

As to player strength mentioned by Zurich: when a match occurs which produces 2 or 3 out-of-the-book games(both sides 5 or 6 men back, broken inner board points etc), the strong player obviously gets a compounded advantage from clocks.

Not so obvious to me. Have you ever played Francois?
