Saturday morning speech in Pittsburgh

I posted in the original thread that I saw a lot of the aftermath... this all happened after Joe & Ray messed up something with the clock and needed a ruling. I came over JUST as the discussion started over rolling twice, etc. Keep in mind that this was a late Saturday match... like 10pm. The people who were watching were tired. Ray and Joe might have been alert, playing in such a big match, but I promise you... the spectators were dragging. Bob Glass, Richard Armbruster, and Stepan Nuniyants were all asked -- and all three said that they didn't know what had taken place. They were tired!!! I can't possibly know what really happened because it all took place just before I rolled up. But suggesting that Bob Glass *LIED* about something is ludicrous.
I still think that Pat Gibson made the wrong decision (because Norm Wiggins did seem sure), but I don't really think it was so egregious, because there WAS a fair amount of doubt.
Well, I wasn't there in Pittsburgh, so it's hard to comment about what Ray did there.
Now, on to Stick's no-show at an awards ceremony. I think some of you guys are making too big of a deal about it. Stick has never anointed himself as some kind of American Backgammon spokesman. Just because he owns and runs a website where a lot of BG discussion takes place doesn't make him the king. Yeah, maybe it's nice if he could show up to accept his prize, but so what if he doesn't? Let's not make mountains out of molehills.
