In the earlier versions of snowie (1 or 2?) the ER of UNFORCED only moves was taken to determine mean (per move) ER.

Kit woolsey used to quiz positions to determine if they are understood by top players and eventually include them in the "new ideas".

Quiz games (thematic) or quiz competions or quiz tourneys could be a discipline along with game, match, tourney, shou competitions.

All these formats could be just social games too. I guess USBGF would greatly benefit if more people saw the joy and fun and THEN the deepness and beauty of BG.
