There's unusual opening moves/replies and then there are just donkey moves like this that in the short term one can never hope to recover. Somehow on average I'd have to make over .05 in my replies to 41U .. that's something even a rank beginner probably couldn't manage. As you mention, this is a poor example, but if you found a good example and the plays were close I likely already knew they were close.

Like I don't mind an opening 52$ or even 62& (or N) but thinking that on the immediate replies you'll be able to recover the difference is insane. These plays should be made against far weaker players in hopes of reaping the rewards of an extended/complicated game. (or you get lucky and the slot or double slot is completely missed it isn't such a bad thing either)

I've checked more than you can imagine and have no worries being fooled by a magical great player I've never heard of falling out of the sky and playing me by tricking me with unorthodox opening plays where I immediately label him a donkey and just ignore the rest of his game that happens to border on perfection if he's taking my cash.
