In my opinion, there is not necessarily a conflict between certain kinds of gamesmanship and ethics/gentlemanly behavior. Stereotypical example: James Bond. Psychology can be a powerful gaming skill. And it can be a lot of fun when players are engaging in good natured bantering. There will be grey areas. But certainly I think the line needs to be drawn when statements or actions become crude, disrespectful, intimidating, annoying, whining, personal, incessant, or if the opponent simply asks you not to do something for any reason. And of course there is a big difference between intentionally making unsolicited misleading statements about your thoughts on the current position as opposed to not being truthful about events when asked for it by the opponent or the director.
