Chicago Update #1

Malcolm Davis beat Danny Zamost in the semis of the Grand Crystal Beaver. In the other semis, John O'Hagan faced Mark Antranikian. I do not know who won.
Bob Glass is a very honest and nice guy, but in my opinion, he exercised very poor judgement by choosing two of the toughest players in the draw for his first two rounds. He got by Ed O'Laughlin in the round of 16 but then lost to John O'Hagan in the round of 8.
I do not expect any readers of this Web site to believe this, but I will present it as if it actually happened. Bill Davis, the tournament director, actually scheduled the semis of the Grand Crystal Beaver for 9 AM Saturday.
Some players (Neil Kazaross, Joe Russell and I) strongly believe that Bill is being totally insensitive to the needs of the participants by requiring them to play Friday night, Saturday morning and all day Saturday. No other TD makes such a demand of the players.
Although Neil lives nearby, he did not participate in the event because of this nightmare schedule. Joe Russell told me he stayed home and did not attend the tournament because of this schedule. This cost the TD money; his 15% cut of Joe's $280 entry fee into the main event would have been $42.
