Contact Variations, NonContact Variations and Crossovers

If contact is eliminated in this postion, then playing 8/3 8/7 is very bad for the race, and not only because it gives one crossover instead of two. 8/3 8/7 may force Blue to put future sixes on his already-stacked acepoint, creating additional wastage.
If contact remains in this position, then 8/3 8/7 is worse for attacking than 7/6 7/2.
Those serious students of the game who are able to comprehend the concept of crossovers should have no problem getting this one right. Many people have attempted to explain the concept to me, and while I sometimes feel I am on the verge of grasping it, I just don't quite get it. I only used the term "crossover" in the first paragraph above to patronize those who understand it.
