My objection is that whenever I see two '*', it implies that two blots were hit.

8/7(2) 6/5*(2) does not have that problem.

b/22* 23/22 is 'correct', IMO. b/22* 23/22* is not, even though it is impossible to hit two blots on the same point.

You would not notate 54S-31P as 8/5* 6/5*.
