The "automatic" 8/4*(2) leaves Blue blotting 6s next turn, so I'd guess 9/7(2) 8/6(2), creating spares and a compact clearing formation, is best. I'm not sure what's right if gammons are in play, but I still don't think it would be 8/4*(2). I'm not sure what to think of 9/7(2) 6/4*(2), so I'd go with 9/7(2) 8/6(2) for money as well.
