Thanks. I guess the mean would have to be higher than 2, since the minimum number of rolls required is 1, and sometimes it can take 10 or more rolls. However, in deciding on a play, the mean might not be relevant, if it is unimportant to you whether the number arrives in (e.g.) 9, 10, or more rolls. You only care about how long you are likely to be delayed behind the prime. If you are a small favorite to roll a 6 in two rolls, and a 3-2 favorite in three rolls (etc.), then it would seem appropriate to plan your play according to those odds.
