Snowie is close to GnuBG (still slightly worse in playing strength) but definitely lost bcuz of it prize after XG arrived on market.

I guess it's all academic now given that XG is stronger and cheaper than Snowie but although I have no hard evidence as I have no way of testing it, I suspect if Snowie 3-ply precise used 100% speed instead of 50%, it's checker play would be as strong as gnubg 2-ply.
