Director ruling

I do not agree that this was a ridiculous or spurious inquiry.
I considered it a perfectly legitimate inquiry. Does asking a director for a ruling constitute a drama?
Rules should be stated as unambiguously as possible, while at the same time promoting good sportsmanship and gentlemanly behavior, which you and I and many others agree is desirable.
While the rules as written do not provide a basis for overruling Player A, which scenario do you consider more sporting?
A) Rolling your initial die while tossing your opponent's die to him
B) Waiting until both players have their die before performing the opening roll.
I am not suggesting that the current rules which take about two printed pages be morphed into a short novel. However, by clarifying several areas, perhaps to the tune of a 4 or 5 page rule set, many currently gray areas could be clarified while at the same time encouraging more sportsmanship.
