WSOB Cannes 2008 now on internet

The playing surfaces (mattes) on the feature board used are not fixed - they are inserts so that they can be changed when required. At this Cannes Riviera / WSOB 2008 event some matches required the use of PartoucheGammon branded mattes and in other matches WSOB branded mattes were required.
Just before Bob and Gus sat down to play a member of the film production team (a non-backgammon player) changed the mattes to suit the match they were about to film. After a few games the error in the laying of the mattes was noticed by a watching backgammon player and the correction was made (off camera) during a break in play.
To the best of my knowledge neither player had actually noticed the matte error. It was rather hoped that others wouldn't spot it.
It should be noted that in 2008 there was very little prior experience of filming matches professionally. Where to place the cameras, what colour the checkers are, what colour and size the dice are, what colour the mattes are, even what colour the doubling cube is - these are just some of the issues that need to be addressed to make for good film viewing and a considerable degree of attention had been paid to these matters. However there was still a bit of "learning on the job" happening. This is one such example. I expect this to be used as a backgammon history quiz question in years to come.
Meanwhile 10/10 to Harvard for observation.
