Early Double 3s

I like the 7-point as well. It's usually not right to make the 7-point in the opening when there are other alternatives (unless it points on a blot), but this is a somewhat unusual position. Blue is in some trouble here and it looks to me like his best plan is counterpriming. Making the 7-point makes White's 5's and 6's awkward, which I think is important in this kind of position. Making the 5-point often allows the prime to be extended more easily than making the 7-point does, but this position looks like an exception, since after 13/10 11/5 8/5 Blue is not really any more flexible than after making the 7-point. Leaving a direct shot with 8/5(2) 6/3(2) just seems too risky. The final alternative is 13/10(2) 6/3(2). This unstacks and looks flexible, but other than that I think it doesn't accomplish much. Blue's points are scattered about and don't work well together to form a prime. I think I'd rank the plays as follows:
13/7(2)
13/10 11/5 8/5
13/10(2) 6/3(2)
8/5(2) 6/3(2)
