Michael, I was just reading up on http://www.extremegammon.com/SearchInterval.asp . So I'm wondering (1) what search intervals the 10 bot-instances compared in your table were using for their evaluations, and (2) whether variant search interval settings for any one of the bots has (or would have, since I suspect you did have the time to devote time to that) a significant effect on its total error.

Also, I'll note that, from your table, the error for Gnubg 3-ply checker + 2-ply cube -- a sometime recommended setting -- is a respectable 31.107.

And also, for the Gnubg folks, noting that Gnubg 4-ply/4ply is "very slow," according to the speed vs. accuracy table at http://www.extremegammon.com/independentstudies.asp , I have to wonder how a Gnubg 3-ply checker + 2-ply cube + an XGR- or an XGR+-like minirollout feature would do, in terms both of accuracy and speed.
