I am saddened by this post. Everyone knew going into this tournament that Deb's rules are hers to be broken. She makes rules to try cover most eventualities. She can't cover them all so she makes judgment calls. Throughout the history of this event, there have been issues that were resolved to someone's dissatisfaction, and often contrary to accepted rules and practices. We all knew going into this event that the host is sometimes (often) capricious. So why the big surprise? In spite of Deb's often bizarre rulings, and despite her autocratic behavior, the Tandem Team tournament is the best event we have at SHG giving us the opportunity to play vs some of the best players in the world, often with expert commentary. The "team" concept adds a spice to the event that we don't get in other tournaments. In any competitive event, wrong things happen. Ask any Irish soccer fan. Referees, judges tournament hosts make bad decisions and people win/lose as a result. It is a part of the game. We accept our losses and move on, though often bitterly. The Jokers and their wonderful players would be greatly missed, if they do boycott the tournament. Though your loss is bitter, I am certain that you all enjoyed it until this happened. I hope that in time, the bitterness will fade, and you will all be back for the next tournament. Garry Kallos
