Like I said, I had no direct involvement in this whole situation, but here's what I understand happened:

Morten Holm suggested having a German on the team since they were so strong in the 1990s with Levermann and Schiemann. Levermann and Schiemann were of course unreachable, so Morten suggested Peter Heitmuller. Stick said OK since the captain did not have to play a session, so Stick didn't really care who the captain was (I would have liked to have given a bit more consideration to the selection rather than just say OK to whomever Morty wants, but as I said I wasn't involved). Morten then created the rule that the captain must play at least one session since he was unahppy with the World's decision to bench Heitmuller.

If it were up to me I would probably have given more consideration to other players (e.g. perhaps Ralf Jonas or a non-German player). However I actually feel that Heitmuller will make a good doubles partner for Falafel, so I am OK with the way things turned out in the end.
