Barf!!!

Permanent Crawford would simply move the point of automatic cubes back one point. If the cube becomes permanently dead at 1-away, one's goal when trailing would be to get your opponent to 2-away and then immediately cube to 2 at that score for the rest of the match. And that would in turn make it much more attractive for the leader at 3-away to take to get to 1-away rather than pass and go to 2-away. This would ripple back and rewrite the entire match equity table and takepoints at each score, etc. Ultimately no problem is solved; only new problems are created.

It ain't broke. Don't fix it.
