Gus v. Stick

I guess he forgot to tell you, that he also (between his sessions Thursday and Friday) played 4 hours of high stakes poker (PLO and H.O.R.S.E.), making a profit of approx. $80,000
Gus doesn't live in Denmark, he flew in for the tournament from Vegas.
(and not directed at Stick, even though it's his post I'm replying to) You need to stop looking for "excuses" such as being fresh/tired, jet-lag, home adv, etc. What you see from some of the "former" Danish BG-stars (Gus & Mads A) is simply raw talent. They really doesn't put in many hours of backgammon anymore - backgammon is "fun" for them, poker is their living. Lars Bønding was asked to join the team, but turned it down, he's playing poker tournaments in Vegas this week. You see Gus showing some good work ethics at poker some of time - that's what you would have seen him do in backgammon 10+ years ago. Now that's not his primary income anymore.
I bet that not many US backgammon players would have believed that Gus was capable of such strong play. I know a lot of people that thought his Giant spot was a result of his big name in poker! How many of you had picked him over Stick in a 11 point match? What side would you have picked on Gus over/under 2,0 error rate in the same match?
BTW if you didn't know: Both Sander and Mads A are winners on the European Poker Tour ($1.6M & $.5M) and Mads has a 4th place on WPT ($.4M)
