The only doubts I heard regarding whether he should be on the Giants list were questions about whether relatively inactive players should be penalized for their inactivity.

I don't follow this stuff all that closely, but I was wondering about that. The Giants of Backgammon page says that voters were asked to "rank the best players in the world, considering the level of their backgammon participation and skills in tournaments and side games over the past two years." That's a rather vague criterion (perhaps the voters were given more explicit instructions), but aren't there quite a few on the list who don't play much anymore? If the list is supposed to be representative of the past two years, it seems those names should be left off. If the intent is to honor the giants of old, perhaps a BG Hall of Fame list (maybe there already is such a thing) would be a better way to do it.
