Nice article, Phil. The only thing I would suggest you add is an extra sentence of explanation that gammons (almost) don't matter for the trailer because he has an odd number of points to go. Your target audience may not immediately grasp the difference between odd-away and even-away Crawford scores.

The thing is that you don't want to escape that checker. You want to have it hanging around to generate more shots and double shots for you. Getting pointed on isn't the end of the world. You'll still maintain some contact from the bar. But not getting a shot is the end of the world.
My play, before I looked at the rollout, was bar/20 8/4. My thought was to start building my board as soon as possible. I did not consider breaking the midpoint. The most surprising play for me is bar/20 13/9. It doesn't seem to me that 13/9 accomplishes much compared to 8/4.
