I don't think this is very likely in the given position. Think through what is likely to happen if the blot hangs back. It might get hit loose or pointed on; but his board is not going to crash while he's on the bar. Crashing will occur only if the blot is hit, re-enters quickly on the ace point, and is primed, with no shot materializing until very late in the day. But Red has enough timing here that crashing is not likely. If Red's front position were further advanced then escaping would probably be more attractive.
