Thanks for the insight, particularly about making such plays early.

On this occasion I knew that 21: 24/21 was an error because I know the rollout result. At other times, one has the problem of identifying the cause of an opponent's play differing from your choice. Since everyone chooses the play they think is best, how can I tell whether I understand the position better than my opponent, or they understand it better than me?

I'll be content to simply make the best play all the time, and leave fancy complication gambits to the masters.
