Congratulations on achieving one your goals for 2010!
This position is in Trice's Backgammon Boot Camp. It's a pretty implausible position if the Jacoby rule is in play, but never mind that. If I recall correctly it's a borderline take/drop decision. Five checkers off with a relatively fast board is a borderline take/drop in the other direction, and eight checkers off is close to an even game.
