I think this is a good illustration of the long-term danger of leaving gaps in the board. 10/6(2) might be safest next roll, but the next roll may be the least dangerous time for you to leave a shot, because Black's board is going to get stronger with time. Note that 6-3, 5-3, and 4-3 are bad and will continue to be bad unless you manage to fill in the 3-point. And with 8 checkers on the 6-point and 4 on the 5-point, the chances are that you'll roll enough 5's to cause you problems even if you fill in a gap.

If you want to experiment with variations, here are some variations I would try.

1. Cover Black's 4-point blot.
2. Move Yellow's outfield point from the 10-point to the 8-point.
3. Move some of the spares from the 6-point to the 5-point and/or the 4-point.
