It might help you learn how to exploit mistakes by your opponent. But a bot is not likely to make the same "mistakes" as a weak human opponent does.

Anyway, it seems we're drifting into a different topic. It's clear that someone who has played 37 years of backgammon and still stacks checkers on a single point is not exactly trying to get on the fast track to improving their game.
