When is it right to hit loose with 6/1*?

When playing against an anchor and guard I typically use my first awkward roll to take out the guard. Awkwardness often leads to more awkwardness so it's often safer to just hit and get it over with, especially if Op hasn't built a strong board yet. Here, 9/3 isn't awkward exactly, but it's a poor roll that leaves shots anyway. The hit plays plays comfortably and Blue has an anchor, so I'd just knock him off the 1pt and get him out of my hair.
