Backgammon in Pittsburgh?

I find it interesting that a city the size of Pittsburgh does not have a backgammon club or group, and even if you search Meetup.com, where you can almost always find board game groups and people interested in playing backgammon, there is nothing listed in Pittsburgh. Yet you can go to a relatively small town, like Flint, Michigan, and find a very active group and lots of players.
Why does Durham/Chappel Hill have a solid club and a good turnout once a week and cities 10 times as big have no game at all? How does Bill Davis get 40 people every week on a Tuesday night?
The answer is obvious...there has to be an organizer, a Carol Cole or Ken Larsen or Bill Davis to start, organize, promote, and run the club consistently week after week and let players know there is a place they can count on to come and have a fair, fun game on a regular basis.
So, Ian, do you want more backgammon in Pittsburgh (other than going to Abbas' pizza parlor and getting a fat stomach and thin wallet)? Start a club. Bill Davis has a list of suggestions for starting and running a club on his web site (www.chicagopoint.com) and there are some die hard players in Pittsburgh who you can count on to come. What Bill didn't put on his list, that he recommends: teach some really cute young ladies to play and pay them to come every week and soon you'll have a big crowd.
