Blue is likely to lose the priming/timing battle if he just tries to roll the prime with 9/5 9/4. The tempo hit 6/1* 9/5 can certainly backfire but at least it gives a plausible winning plan: Escape a back checker while White is busy. If Blue gets hit back then White will still be stuck on the ace point, and if Blue then dances then White will at least be forced to move forwards. I'm not sure I'd find this play OTB and maybe QF is misleading me, but I like 6/1* 9/5.
