OTB I knew the reference position that if my 5 prime is advanced 1 pip (2 thru 6) and I have 14 checkers with that 5 prime arranged for 4 spares, I can take if the opp has 18 spare pips.

Here he has 13 pips, but I face more gammon danger as he may be able to pick up a 2nd blot if he rolls a quick 6. I think this makes it a pass for money.

However, ATS I felt that I should take this since I have more recube vig than I do for money since an 8 cube will really sting Steve.

I took and Steve rolled 6-1 after which I didn't expect to win this match. However, I saved he G and then the dice favored me during my comeback run.
