Stick vs. MFIC

It was sick. Yes Patrick won an improbable gammon at -4,-2 with Stick having one in the air closed out and one on the 16 point or thereabouts. Improbable because Pat gave up on the gammon to go for the sure win by clearing his 6 pt with a 32 having spares on 43 and one off instead of taking a checker off and leaving his board closed, and that Stick entered immediately. MFIC managed 14 crossovers before Stick could manage 5!

As if that wasn't enough, the previous game at -4,-4 with MFIC holding a 2 cube, Stick has Patrick almost certainly gammoned for the match if he doesn't get hit. He doesn't get hit. But MFIC rolls 2 sets of boxes during the bearoff to pull close and Stick rolls a 22 with 3 on the 3 and one on the ace while Pat throws 65 with a checker on the 17 and 8 pts to save gammon when Stick doesn't throw a set.

Overall, a very exciting match between two great competitors. Congrats to both Patrick and Stick for a great result.
