In Response To: Slightly OT ethics example (Barry Silliman)

I was watching this, and note that there was consideration (before the shot) of simply taking a penalty and getting to drop the ball in front of the green where he would be chipping/pitching for par. (Opponent Furyk was about three feet away from par himself at the time of the decision.) It sounded like Davis's contemplation of this option took the announcers (Faldo and Nance) by surprise. Faldo's subsequent weighing of the pluses and minuses of such decision never mentioned the risk of a penalty from inadvertently touching an object in the hazard -- what actually ended up happening. I wonder if that outlier was part of Davis's (and his caddy's) inputs.
