My grip does not change, it is exactly the same for the forehand and backhand.

As I come through with the backhand stroke I snap-rotate my wrist downward (counter-clockwise) -- I am right-handed -- so that the same face of the racket hits the ball as in a forehand.

The power is generated by a combination of forward body movement and turn, the pulling of the entire length of the arm through the stroke, and the snap/rotation of the wrist at impact.

In my opinion, it is a much more powerful stroke than a traditional backhand; in fact, very nearly the same stroke and power as a forehand.
