The position of the back checker seems more important than that of the outer blot. The outer blot will likely be hit or made safe on the next exchange; it's a temporary liability. Advancing the rear checker creates a more permanent flaw, as it's likely to sit there a while, blocked by White's 8pt and vulnerable to attack. That lead me to play b/20 24/23.
