Redraw in Vegas after Rd 1

I have to disagree with Chiva. It is not fair to redraw after round 1 and it is not unlucky to redraw the same player, but rather the result of systemic error and thus wrong. I am not complaining about my draw as Giant is a true gentleman and a lot of fun for me to play. I also drew him in the last chance after a couple of rounds. This is more of an academic discussion of tournament format in general. The discussion of re-buys has been pored over here at great length and I see no need to revisit that.
Jim isn't necessarily "right" or "wrong" -- he just brings up an interesting point that's worth discussing. In swiss tournaments, it's considered to be a goal to avoid or prevent players from meeting more than once. Why shouldn't that be a goal in any event? If it didn't affect anything else, you might really want it... naturally, it DOES affect other things, so then it becomes a discussion of tradeoffs.
I'd like to offer one good reason for the desire to avoid repeat pairings. One of the many reasons I go to events like this is to meet and play with many different people. The more I can do this, the better!
