Good question! But, I would ask why redraw after every round when better formats already exist. It would be interesting to explore how the current format came about. As I remember it was a combination of ego and ignorance that produced the current format. Ignorance how to draw a double elimination tournament and properly assign byes. Both of these issues have long been solved. And ego on the part of some of the better players (no longer active) that they did not want anyone taking a shot at them, losing, and then getting a chance back at the top money. Double elimination would solve the issue of players cashing in the main, but not the calcutta, while the last player they beat moves on and gets a chance at the calcutta.
