Which search space did you use for these rollouts? Below are some CUBELESS rollouts from XG 4-Ply Huge and GNU 2-ply. I also had Snowie roll this out CUBELESS 3-ply as it's the only bot I could find that immediately likes a trapping play 7/4.

I rolled out four plays and the rank was 9/6 stat sig ahead of 8/6 8/7, closely followed by 16/13 with 7/4 a bit further back.

I also watched gnu plays this position out. I got the impression gnubg plays the checkers in this position really well and anyone interested should watch too.(I'd be interested in hearing if any humans diagree with any of GNU's strategy). Although it doesn't trap on the first move it generally traps on the next move. It will start breaking the 7 or 8 point and constantly trapping & slotting / making points (even the ace), blocking escaping higher numbers till the end. Once on the attack it's quite happy even to banana split. No rollouts so far have shown immediate trapping plays to be correct. I believe it's due to being able to establish a better distribution for starting to trap.

Also interesting is that cubeless GNUBG 2-ply wins more games than XG 4-Ply and Snowie.
