In Response To: Matt Cohn-Geier Interview (phil Simborg)

He played in his first tournament just 3 years ago

Wrong - at least 4 years ago.

It is probably accurate to say that no player in the history of backgammon has gained such status and respect and proven ability in such a short period of time

Gus was was 23 when he first appeared on the list at #22. MCG is nearly 26 and probably won't live as long as Gus has.

Matt is generally a man

The only accurate statement I've seen thus far.

I gave up drinking altogether, and just spent it playing backgammon.

This is why you will fail. Where did you grow up again? Didn't catch it in the interview...

but I still lost money due to travel expenses (in Madison)

He fails to mention he hedged away any would be winnings along the way.

I am not sure who can beat me on a consistent basis

I am, but since there is a limit on the size of one post I don't care to change at the moment, we'll just leave it.

I think if things continue at the current pace, in a year or two, no one will be able to beat me.

Prop accepted!

I learned very quickly it was better to look like an idiot and take all the money.

You're halfway home, time to chisel out the other part of the equation.

If someone thinks they can do it better than me then I welcome the challenge.

You have been hanging around Falafel too much.

Do you have a significant other and if so, who is he or she? (There was even a rumor about you and Stick Rice, but several said that is impossible because Stick is so ugly.

There are some theories worth testing, Phil, you have a daughter?
